General Equipment & Supply is seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Regional Sales Accounts Manager to drive growth throughout Bloomington, Illinois and the surrounding market. This position is responsible for developing new business opportunities, expanding existing customer relationships, and serving as a trusted partner to contractors and construction professionals across the region.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong business development instincts, communicates clearly and concisely, and enjoys spending significant time in the field building relationships. This role will focus heavily on subcontractor accounts, electrical contractors, industrial contractors, and companies supporting large-scale construction projects, including data centers and modern construction developments exceeding $1 billion in project value.

Territory & Travel Requirements

Territory Coverage

This position is based in the Bloomington, Illinois market and will manage a territory extending approximately 120 miles from the candidate's home base, with regular travel throughout a broader sales region.

Travel Expectations

  • Weekly travel throughout the assigned territory is required.
  • Territory travel will generally consist of a roughly 400-mile radius surrounding the representative's home base.
  • Frequent customer visits, jobsite meetings, project reviews, industry events, and business development activities are essential components of this role.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

What You'll Do

  • Generate new business opportunities and expand market share throughout the assigned territory.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, electrical contractors, industrial contractors, and construction firms.
  • Identify opportunities within large-scale commercial, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, and data center projects.
  • Actively prospect through networking, cold calling, jobsite visits, referrals, and industry events.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to grow revenue within existing accounts while securing new customers.
  • Present equipment, tool, and power solution recommendations tailored to customer needs.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity, and opportunity pipelines using CRM software.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide exceptional service and project support.
  • Monitor construction activity, market developments, and emerging opportunities within the territory.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 3 years of outside sales, territory sales, business development, or account management experience.
  • Proven ability to generate new business and grow existing customer relationships.
  • Strong computer skills, including CRM systems, Microsoft Office, email, and digital sales platforms.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to deliver concise, timely, and professional customer interactions.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and comfortable working independently in a field-based sales environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining consistent customer engagement.
  • Experience selling into construction, industrial, utility, electrical, rental equipment, or related markets is strongly preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.

  • Experience selling into large-scale commercial or industrial projects valued at $1 billion or greater.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, electrical systems, construction equipment, contractor tools, or industrial products.
